I often leave just the three high stat starting characters in the vault by themselves and send everyone else out into the wasteland - without any equipment, if I don't have any yet. How I balance population/resources in early game: Remember, you don't have to win your fights in the vault, and while a dweller is in the wasteland the vault's food and water resources are not being affected by that dweller.

Every few minutes there is another stranger I can find most of them. I've noticed that the range of caps reward for clicking him varies with the size and/or population of your vault, and really early in the game I often get only 20-30 caps per stranger, but by the time I have 30+ dwellers and 10+ rooms I reliably get between 200-3000. I get a huge amount of caps from finding the mysterious stranger. There's a few things I do to balance my cap income/expenditure. I think thats about it atm as I've been restarting around 18-20 dwellers every time so far :( planning ahead for the 2nd elevator shaft allowing for proper room spacing. playing slow.no slower.no even slower :Pĥ. one point I saw but have not tried is keep reatarting/remaking the vault and play to the 4 lunchboxes aiming for 1-2 legendary dwellers.Ĥ. I was at first knocking up all my females at once and unfortunately it drains on the resources too much early on.ģ. Instead make them 3 wide first, which is cheaper in caps in the end too.Ģ. Don't upgrade rooms at lower levels because the events are harder. So, some points I saw folks talk about and trying this go round:ġ. Watched a bunch of videos but I think they were based around issues/concepts from previous versions.Īnyway, the slow/stuck point is after the newness period wears off and you around 12-18 dwellers and out of caps. At 36 hours into playing the game, on my 5th vault now.
